Axiology values up and coming scientists

PSSA Awards 2022

Axiology Labs recently had the honour of attending the bespoke annual Physiology Society of South Africa (PSSA)’s Gala evening.

Earlier this year students had the opportunity to attend the PSSA Conference at Stellenbosch University and could enter various competitions through the submission of their oral and poster presentations.

These competitions included:

The Wyndham Prize Competition

This competition constitutes one of the highlights of the PSSA Conference. It offers Physiology Departments of Universities within Southern Africa not only an opportunity to showcase the success of their postgraduate programmes, but also gives these young researchers their first experience of presenting and defending their work in front of a supportive, but competitive, international audience. Furthermore, young researchers receive an indispensable opportunity to compare and discuss their projects with students from and peers attending at other universities.

The Johnny van der Walt Prize Competition

The Society also awards a prize for the best poster by a pre-doctoral student in the Physiological Sciences at the Annual PSSA Conference.

The “Best Method” competition

The “Best Method” award is presented to a young researcher for the best method (originality/appropriateness and correctness) showcased during an oral presentation and who entered into the Wyndham or Johnny van der Walt Competition at the Annual PSSA Conference. The award allows for the recognition of innovative and inventive scientific techniques.

As proud partners of the PSSA, Axiology Labs were privileged to be able to sponsor prizes to the winners of these various competitions.

We offer our congratulations to the respective winners and unwavering support to all participants who share our passion for adding value to the advancement of the field of science on the African continent.
